  • Screen Actors Guild Awards a Good Predictor of Academy Award Winners
If the past Screen Actors Guild award ceremonies have taught us anything, it’s that influence can never be underestimated. Take last years Academy Award winners, for instance. In 2006, the Screen Actor’s Guild appointed the film Crash (starring Matt Dillon and Sandra Bullock) as the best outstanding performance by an ensemble cast in a motion picture. Crash went on to win the Academy Award for best picture, beating the odds on favorite Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain (starring Heath Ledger and Jack Gyllenhaal).
  • The Curse of the Best New Artist Grammy
Winning the Grammy for Best New Artist seems like a great way to start a career, and for a select few artists, it has been. Artists such as the Beatles, Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera have all won the award, and while the latter two are still making new records that could indeed signal the end of their respective careers, it’s pretty safe to say that it certainly didn’t hurt the Beatles. Still, the stigma remains that winning the Best New Artist award is a curse.
  • Wireless Interconnected Smoke Alarms: Fire Protection for your home
According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control’s Fire Death and Injuries fact sheet, four out of five U.S. fire deaths in 2005 occurred in the home. Is your
home protected with a wireless interconnected smoke alarm system so that if a fire was to start anywhere in your house, your family would know immediately and have the time needed to escape?

The technology of the wireless interconnected smoke alarm system greatly increases the likelihood that the occupants of a home will have the needed time to escape from a fire. This greatly reduces the chance of injury or death.

  • 2007 Grammy Awards Ceremony Promises Plenty of Controversy
Ah, the Grammys…the music industry’s counterpart to the Academy Awards. Every year seems to bring about at least one “against all odds” winner and a little controversy. This year, thankfully, promises to be no different. The music industry is similar to the motion picture industry in that politics and persuasion play a part in the proceedings. Try saying that seven times fast. Better yet, try to guess who’ll walk away a winner this year and who will go home unrecognized

  • The Changing Face of Human Resource Management Systems
Most businesses that run HRMS already understand how crucial it can be for streamlining human resource department functions. In the days before HRMS, managing human resources on a large scale was a daunting task marked by inefficiency and a paper trail that made file cabinet manufacturers an extremely happy lot.
  • The Worst Sound of All
Isn’t it amazing how much sound we’re bombarded with everyday? We love to find a quiet moment where we are not acoustically assaulted by people, equipment, traffic, stereos, neighbors, cell phones, and on and on. It’s hard to find that quiet moment, and perhaps even harder to find that soundproof place. Sound levels are so intense that many walls and building materials just don’t stop the sound satisfactorily.
  • Is Insulation Really effective Soundproofing for Walls?
One of the oldest and most established methods for improving the sound isolation of walls is the use of insulation. It’s fast, reasonably inexpensive and easy to install. You probably have some interior walls in your own home filled with insulation. But how effective is it, anyway? Does it stop the type of sound that is most annoying you?

So you have a noisy neighbor, or maybe your son is now playing the drums, or Dad has a new stereo system. The sound doesn’t bother them, but the noise is obviously nerve wracking for the rest of us. What can be done to soundproof?

However, most companies make large quantities price cuts, which often has smaller businesses buying less so to stay on budget. While working for myself, the need for small runs of professional looking products is vital to my success.
  • How to buy and use your Silverware Chest
The formal meal served with fine silverware is a tradition that embodies the finest civilization has to offer. It is the combination of refinement and conviviality, and luckily we live in an age where such beauty is no longer limited to the ‘noble classes.’ The protector of this fine tradition is the often-neglected silverware chest, often called a flatware chest in the United States.
