  • Laparoscopic Surgery: An overview
    Laparoscopy is considered a minimally invasive surgery as the body’s natural openings are not used. Instead, the surgeon uses an instrument called a laparoscope. Also called keyhole surgery, laparoscopy is considered an endoscopic procedure and is usually performed to as part of an investigation of the abdominal and pelvic cavity.
  • Abdominal Surgery
    Abdominal surgery broadly involves the opening up of the abdomen. There are several abdominal organs (such as the stomach, liver, intestines etc) and the surgery of each is dealt with differently. The three most common abdominal surgeries are described below:
  • Treating Hyperhidrosis
    Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is caused by a dysfunction in the sympathetic nerve chain.

    Normal sweating is the body's way of lowering its temperature. Sometimes, however, the body sweats in excess of what is needed for normal cooling; This is called Hyperhidrosis.
  • What is GERD?
    Gastroesophageal (pronounced: gas-tro-ih-sah-fuh-jee-ul) reflux disease is a condition in which acid from the stomach regurgitates or refluxes into the esophagus.
  • Treatment of GERD
    As mentioned before, reflux is more troublesome at night when the individual is lying down. Relief can be provided by elevating the patient’s upper body at night. This can be done by putting blocks under the bed’s feet on the head side. Also, reflux has been observed to occur less frequently when the patient lies on his left side rather than on the right.
  • Living with GERD
    Although GERD is a life-long condition, it is possible to live comfortably in spite of it. It only requires a little effort and persistence on the part of the patient. It is very important not to ignore it.

    A number of conditions are believed to cause GERD. Different conditions may be active in different individuals, or even the same individual at different times. Chief among these are:
