Chantix: The Case Of Another Potential 'Killer' Prescription Drug Chantix, also known as varenicline and Champix, is a drug used in the treatment of smoking addiction. The drug is manufactured by Pfizer as an oral tablet that is available by prescription only. The drug acts to stimulate the nicotine receptors in a weaker manner than nicotine, making it a partial agonist. However, as it is a partial agonist, its actions decrease the feelings of pleasure that smokers get when smoking cigarettes and it also reduces the cravings.
