Challenges Facing Institutional Advancement There are many challenges facing institutional advancement offices. There are gifts that are tainted, donors who fail to follow through with the actual donation, and donors who want total control over their gift. In addition to those, the challenges of selecting staff members, defining the institution's Chief Executive Officer's role in fundraising, fostering positive alumni relationships, and dealing with ethical dilemmas.
