A Life of Many Parts, A Tribute to My Father on his 90th birthday, April 29th 2011 My father set up his own engineering business at the age of 18 and contributed greatly through this to the war effort. He volunteered for the RAF and was a navigator in Lancaster bombers. After the war he was heavily taxed on equipment he had invested in which was then virtually worthless. He had to close his company and worked on a wide variety of jobs to pay off the tax which he did in 7 years. For most of the rest of his life he ran a small building firm specialising in work on old buildings. He did the architectural drawings himself. He worked until his stroke at the age of 87.Keywords:
