There are many little things you can do to help make your blog get indexed by search engines and improve your rankings. Many of these things are very important and make a big difference in the amount of traffic you get from Google, Yahoo and MSN. In this article I am going to get technical so you can get these things done, step by step.

Make sure you use relevant wording in your TITLE tags, as opposed to just the name of your company. If people know the name of your company they will find you as long as your site is listed in the SE, so it isn’t necessary to put it there, at least not in the foremost position in the tag.

When a searcher looks for information in search engines, she's taken to result pages where usually 10 web pages are introduced, with the content of title tag, description meta tag and the URL. If your webpage shows an attractive topic there, it could persuade visitors to click on your link.

Sure a title should contain your main keywords. It should these naturally since it describes what's on the page, but you need it to contain your keywords for SEO purposes. To my experience, I was successful in ranking sites when I maintained a Keyword density on the titles.

By using page-specific keywords and key phrases in your body copy, your meta descriptions, and your title tags, you should find that individual pages of your web site come up in a search. If your overall site topic has a ton of competition, this might be the way to work your way up in rankings.

You should begin your Title Tag with a capital letter and follow with lower case letters and proper punctuation like a sentence, as it is easier to read. It is also good to create a sense of urgency, so that the reader feels as though they have to visit your website to solve a problem. Each page of your website should contain a Title Tag that is unique to the page.

The first words of the title tag should contain the right keywords that you want to be found for, instead of using your company name immediately. If you use your company name, Google will interpret this as the keywords you want to be found for in their search engine, and because no one searches for your company name, you are almost always sure to be at the bottom of search engine rankings.

How do I know this? I tested the theory and every single time, when I inserted the target keyword within the first 65 characters, the page came up when searched for a term within the title only, using the above method, without the word in the body or any other facet of the page.

If your keyword is extremely popular, another extension can be considered. The extensions that may get popular are .net, .org and .biz. Another trick is to use a state or country extension in the domain name. Consider this if you do not lay more stock with the difference between worldwide or local marketing.
