Two Things To Avoid Like The Plague When You Have A Yeast Infection

I'm sure that most people reading this now are probably aware of the fact that at least half of us, men and women, are carrying yeast organisms with us at all times.

For those that don't, well it's perfectly natural. Yeast is a prolific, naturally occurring organism that for the most part is benign, and causes us no problems whatsoever.

We get problems when the yeast that we carry multiplies to the extent where we have a yeast infection, and that's usually the only time that we are aware of yeast at all (unless you happen to be a baker, or brewer of course) and the awful effect of too much yeast in our body.

Now despite what you may have heard to the contrary, yeast infections as such are not particularly difficult to treat naturally and very effectively as well, we will look at these in more detail in other articles. The purpose of this one is to make you aware of certain things you should definitely not do when you have one, or know you are developing one.

During the course of a yeast infection there are a variety of symptoms that manifest themselves. These will be all too well known to frequent sufferers. Especially women. Now I certainly don't wish to appear sexist or non PC (how I hate that phrase), but it is a well known fact that although men do get these infections, women are by far more likely to suffer.

This is really just common sense when we know that yeast loves warm, damp conditions, and the vagina provides one of the ideal climates. A vaginal yeast infection will produce burning sensations, itching, and odour. It's probably these symptoms that we want to get rid of before we even think about treating the underlying infection itself.

Yes, we can go to the pharmacy and find many products that say they offer a solution, and some of them will help, at least short term. However we are talking about absolute no-no's here so let's get to it.

Feminine deodorants and douches, these are two things you just don't want to be using. Feminine deodorants have exploded onto the market in recent years, feeding on many womens fears of "not being nice to be around". Well what did we do before these products were available? Simple straightforward everyday hygiene, that's what.

Whilst douches have been around for years longer, nowadays, more so than in the past, just like the deodorants they contain chemicals. Whilst they may help the odour problem initially, they are doing nothing at all for the yeast infection. These products will often in fact make it worse by increasing the irritation factor. Something you definitely don't want.

OK, I won't leave it at that without giving you a couple of natural tips that will work, and won't cost you but a few pennies. Instead of using feminine deodorants or douches to treat your yeast infection symptoms try using garlic. If you insert a natural garlic clove into the vagina this will often give not only almost instant relief from the distressing itching and burning, but also helps reduce the odour.

Natural yoghurt, and I stress, natural yoghurt, not the flavoured, sweetened varieties, but pure natural yoghurt, can also be used in the same way. Just don't leave either for too long to avoid them becoming another irritant. 15-20 minutes a time is adequate. Following these simple recommendations can help consign your yeast infection to the past.
