To get what you want in your relationship is important and the relationship has a much better chance of being a happy one for both of you. Not getting what you want is one of the biggest reasons a relationship has problems. But it can be fixed with a little effort on your part.

The best way to get what you want in a relationship is by making it a point the other person knows just what it is you want in the relationship to make it happy. Don't make the mistake that your partner will be able to read your mind. He or she wants to make sure your relationship wants are taken care of, but you need to let them know what they are and how important they are for a strong and happy relationship.

Also it is very important to encourage your partner to tell you the wants he or she thinks are important to the relationship. It could be surprising to find out, if you've never talked about it this before, just how different your wants for a happy relationship are.

You might feel the need for you partner to tell you he loves you often, so may you do that for him. He no doubt enjoys that, but maybe what he really needs is for you to do quick considerate things to make him feel special. Some people like to be told, and some people like to be shown.

Just by having a discussion about your relationships wants can really help the relationship and make it easier to keep each other happy. If you're uncomfortable having such a discussion that's ok do it anyway it will get easier when the talking starts. Telling each other your wants is better than hinting or expecting them to read your mind.

You may really want your partner to be more helpful. But when it's time to help with the every day chores or wash dishes you do them by yourself. Instead of simply asking for help or letting him know that it would mean a lot to you if he would do them sometimes or do them with you, you get upset with him.

You're upset doing them, slam a cabinet, or act otherwise upset. This is passive aggressive behavior and is never a good thing to do. You're trying to manipulate him into helping you by acting that way. It's much better and healthier to just ask for help.

Passive aggressive behavior happens often in relationships, and it's a bad thing because it rarely works. If he does take your hint, it's only after you've acted upset, mad and resentful. So his reasons for doing the dishes might be only to stop you from acting mad and upset with him.

If you ask for help and explain that it makes you feel good when he wants to help you, then he's doing it for love and helpfulness. He doesn't feel bad about doing it, so it's better for both.

The other important things like showing affection, respecting each other's feelings, and every aspect of your relationship. When you want something, ask for it, and be ready to give your partner what they ask for to make sure all your relationship wants are taken care of. If this is done daily with love and respect for each other you will without a doubt
have a long and happy relationship together.
