Article Summary: Ukraine is a unitary state situated in the south of Central Europe. It has twenty four regions, Crimea – an autonomous republic and two urban districts which are treated separately: Kiev which is the capital and Sevastopol. Ukraine has a semi-presidential republic. It has lived after an orange revolution in December 2004. Nowadays the system of power in this country has a quite interesting structure: the power is redistributed between several branches of authority.

Ukraine is situated in Central Europe and it is a unitary state. There are 24 regions that named “oblast” are included into that country, but there are also two urban areas that are considered to be separate provinces: the metropolis of Ukraine – Kiev and Sevastopol. The consequence of the orange revolution which took place in 2004, is that Ukraine has the status of semi-presidential republic. The current kind of authority is more democratic that the previous one. Now the country is controlled not by the one man, but by several branches of power. Ukraine borders on Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Moldova and Hungary form the west, Turkey form the south; the Russian boundary is the longest one it is from North and East. The country is mostly treeless plain with mountains in the Crimea and low Carpathian Mountains. Across Ukraine flows Dnieper, which is considered to be one of the longest rivers in Europe. There is a huge amount of hydroelectric power plants are placed on river Dnieper. The winters owing to the mild climate are not very cold. It snows frequently and most lakes get covered by ice. The unique climate in summer consists of a huge amount of rainy days, but there are many hot and dry days too.

Owing to favorable terms, Ukraine is known for its quality soils and significantly developed agriculture. Ukraine is believed to be one of the largest exporters of sugar. In general, the country produces a lot of produce: maize, corn, vegetables, fruit, etc. Kiev is a quite old city and it is the metropolis of Ukraine. Even nowadays we can see some edifices dated 5th century here. This city is simply amazing. It started as a small trading settlement and evolved into the center of Slavic civilization in the Eastern part of Europe. After it was conquered by Mongols in the 13th century and fully destroyed, it lost its eminence for a long period. However, industrial revolution helped the city regain conspicuousness. In times of the Soviet Union Kiev became the capital of Ukrainian Soviet Republic. Today the population of Kiev is about 3 million citizens. According to the censuses the population is rapidly growing year after year. We may not even nearly count the amount of various nationalities which are comprised into this wonderful city. More than 120 ethnic groups live here. In the second part of 20th century its population grew significantly as a result of improvement of real estate building in that city. After the independence there created modern condominiums, chic restaurants and five star hotels.

The economics of Ukraine is growing at constant rate. The growth is also resulted in salaries which have also rose in real value about 20 percents per year from 2001 till 2007. Experienced economical foretellers say that Ukraine will become a member of WTO in a very short time.
