Processed Foods are a threat to the "Diabetic Diet," but just how big of a threat.

Ler me share with yor, when many of us defeated our Type 2 diabetes, in part, with advice from one of the few books out here. It is out of print, but is was a great book called Live Longer Now. It talked about the horrible impact 'Supermarket Foods' have on your body, and diabetes.

The growing Processed Food problem.
One of the key understandings was about how Supermarket foods are high fat, high calorie, high cholesterol, overly processed cookies, cakes, fatty meat and dairy products. Twinkies, donuts, pork and whole milk are some examples.

They trigger diabetes, which in turn, triggers heart disease, cancer, neuropathy, kidney failure, respiratory problems and blindness--and weight gain.

You'll be shocked by a scientific study done with Supermarket foods and rhesus monkeys. One monkey group was fed high fat, high calorie Supermarket Foods. Another group ate healthy fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Here is the article and the shocking pictures of this one poor supermarket food monkey and the healthy test monkey.

The Monkey's Story
The heart failure was produced strictly by feeding the monkey a high fat/high cholesterol diet. The diet was very much like what many Americans consume every day. We call it Supermarket Food. It was about 42 percent fat and about a 50th of an ounce of cholesterol per day. After two years on the diet the monkey had developed the characteristic yellow outcroppings (called xanthomas) on his skin, which showed that its arteriosclerosis was already well developed.

After two and a half years of feeding, the fatal heart attack happened. The attack was massive, involving about half of his left heart muscle. The heart and the coronary arteries looked just like a human heart looks after such an attack."

The heart showed many areas of cell death, and the arteries were filled with plaques. It should be pointed out that rhesus monkeys do not have heart attacks under normal circumstances. On ordinary "monkey chow," a rhesus monkey will never have a heart attack.

Type 2 Diabetics can find help here. Any one at risk from one of the killer degenerative diseases like, Diabetes, heart disease, arteriosclerosis, cerebrovascular disease (stroke) and arterial hypertension will learn how to fight their disease with food. Today we know that "The bottom line to preventing type 2 diabetes can be boiled down to five words: Stay lean and stay active"

If you look at the article above, the poor monkey that ate the Supermarket Foods is the overweight, gnarley-looking critter with real bad fur. He died after 2 years of eating these Supermarket Foods. The other monkey flourished. (In each and every test, the
SuperMarket Monkeys all die; ....each time they do this test.) Good Grief. What about us.

These unhealthy foods have the same impact on us humans. I lost 31 pounds and lowered my blood sugar considerably in a matter of months, by cutting out Supermarket Foods, adding a little exercise and taking natural herbal supplements. You can, too!

Change your daily diet to include this: 8 eight-ounce glasses of water, 6-9 bright colored fruits and vegetables, 50% carbs (from leaner meat cuts, low fat dairy and whole grain breads).

BONUS TIPS: Trouble Eating Out--What to Eat

Keep losing weight while eating in restaurants. All restaurants are calorie-rich; there are 6 tips to keep your weight down and eat out.

· Look for 'baked, steamed, poached, broiled and grilled. This means a lesser amount of fat is used in preparation - lower calories for you.

· Split desserts. Don't deny your sweet tooth. Just cut the dessert in half and you'll minimize the damage.

· Keep sauces on the side. Dip, don't drench. Have fat and calorie-laden sauces in their place by using small amounts instead of letting restaurant servers decide your caloric intake.

· Salsa, not sour cream. Flavoring your food doesn't mean you have to use butter, bacon, sour cream or other fatty seasonings. Salsa, low in calories and rich in flavor, works well at bringing the best out in food.

· Avoid all-you-can-eat buffets. They're trouble for people who want to lose weight. Just stay away from those Country Buffets.
