A niche market often has less room for growth, or less potential for customers, and so any company looking to go into a niche must be well versed in the exact potential that particular niche market has.

Being able to focus your color printing around a small audience gives you a much greater likelihood of success, along with less competition to go up against. Fewer companies focus on niche markets because of the smaller size of them, granting the right companies an opportunity seize the market before anyone else has a chance to.

The thing that often happens is that when people think about a niche, they think about an entire industry or market that is considered the niche market. Think about comic book stores. These appeal to the niche market of collectors, which is a very self-contained market.

These are the kinds of niches that people first think of, but there are many more, and most niche markets are actually a smaller market within a mainstream one.

Consider the example of ring tones. As the mainstream cell phone market boomed, the demand began to make each phone unique. Certain companies picked up on this idea and started coming out with unique ring tones that people could buy for a small fee. Of course, most people want more than just one ring tone, and so more and more of them sold, until this became a very solid niche market.

Part of what makes these niches within large markets so successful is that you already have the benefit of an established market, and yet you still retain the added edge of a niche. You can keep your advertising and your color printing heavily focused around a single market.

Any poster you print can have a reference to both the main market and how your niche market can impact it. This gives you an immediate level of recognition with your customers to help build up your business.

There are potentials for niche markets all over the place. Some of them can become so big they become mainstream markets themselves. This is the hope of any company who starts up a business in a smaller niche. With enough hard work and dedication you can make your market grow.
