The Best Martial Arts Plan

Article Summary: An introduction to the logic and science of matrixing in the martial arts

(c)

One of the things that I have noticed is that if a fellow is studying martial arts, violence stops happening around him.
Nobody wants to fight him, or even fight around him.
Even if a fight breaks out, once he walks into the area, the fight just sort of goes away.
Sure, there's probably something mystical about it, 'aura,' 'presence,' or something like that, but the real crux of it all, the thing that makes for such things as presence, is a calm certainty, and the way you build calm certainty is with a well thought out plan.
The mere fact that somebody is making a plan, and putting it into reality, protects that person, and even protects the people around him.
And violence, when it does rear its ugly head, is downright laughable.
The plan I use is something called Matrixing. It is a method of diagramming martial arts, With Matrixing I am taking into account absolutely anything that could happen. Interestingly, there was a fellow named Rickenbacker that did something like this during World War I. He imagined himself at the center of a sphere, and imagined every single line of attack, and every single thing he could do to handle that attack. This is a fantastic way of approaching the very real chaos of combat. He became America''s first air ace. Then founded Eastern Airlines, and found that the 'semi-matrixing' approach he used to become America's first top Gun, served him well in business.
I say semi-matrixing because there was one flaw with it: it was not a thought out, diagrammed approach. It lacked the logic that is available to us in this current day. Thus, while his approach would work for him, it would not work for everybody. One needs more than just imagination, one needs an organization of data. One needs to align the data so that it makes undeniable sense.
If one has all the data, and arranges it in the proper order, than one will have established a base for intuition to set in.
Without organization of data, intuition is a haphazard, sometimes thing.
Intuition is, of course, that state of mind in which a person 'lknows' something, instead of having to think about it.
When you have a plan and a fellow is going to attack you, you will have no blind spots, so the fellow will go away. And matrixing doesn't just teach you something, it enables you to find out what you don't know, to find your weak areas, to see what you should be really working on, to illuminate every path a bad guy might take in trying to reach you. Now that's a plan.
And, speaking of Top guns... his method of training is at the heart of the Top Gun school today. Whether they know it or not, they couldn't produce a truly effective pilot without tapping into his methods. That is the power of logic, and science, and this thing I call Matrixing.
