The StoryBoard Artists works maintains the continuity of the storytelling, they crafts the scripts into very effective and lively scenes or shots. They have to maintain the hand, eye and mind coordination to perform this task perfectly and smartly. Presence of mind is the factor needed to complete this work successfully. They establishes the size relationships between characters and props, and indicates the acting by hitting strong poses on each story point. Cutting the whole storyline into different shots is the rare challenge among them. The first thing is to go through the script.
Script is the base model or brief of making toryBoards. Thumb nailing the scripts is the very important task to perform for them. They translate screenplays, or sequences from screenplays, into a series of illustrations in comic book form. Depending on individual directors and their requirements, Storyboard Artist usually start work early in the production process. After reading the screenplay, they meet with the director to discuss the mood and atmosphere of any scenes to be storyboarded. They show the main action in a scene, along with the camera's position and movements. The only reference for their work is the pictures and props given by the directors.
They have to consider those lively pictures and prepare a screenplay using their sense. What exactly is a storyboard? The storyboard is the visual blueprint of a film or television project before it is shot. The Director's vision is illustrated in the manner of a comic strip and handed on to the crew for purposes of budgeting, design, and communication. And these all are invented and crafted by them after working of multiple hours and being in the action continuously.
Working for long span of time continuously is the key, as concentration and presence of mind is the most important tool for making this screenplay. Actually they feel the whole scripts by heart and they apply them in their screenplays. Working on client's and director's thoughts and converting them into screenplay is the challenging task to perform. Editing is also a very important phase between these processes. As in all the process of thinking and converting sometimes they craft those slides which not mean to the actual product but yes, they may help them to continue into the process. So after all the production they have to edit their slides before deploying them and presenting to the client and director. Changes are also a factor which has to be taken care of, as client or director may ask for the big changes to the prepared slides and can disturb all the screenplays continue process. The importance of storyboarding in animation is further sustained by animates which are series of frames that are set in motion with dialogues to check how the final scene looks like. With the help of these two tools of visualization, it is feasible to eliminate scenes that are not required which could otherwise cost a lot to make and would have been edited eventually. Thus, importance of storyboarding in animation is basically to help in creative visualization as well as planning of budget and production.
