From all our five senses, perhaps that of smell is the most mysterious. A certain scent can unlock forgotten memories and recall past emotions. We can all remember the fragrance of our mother’s kitchen or the perfume of our first love. Scents are very hard to define, yet they are an important part of our life. At the first sight, the sense of smell seems the most insignificant of them. After all, a person could live quite well being unable to smell. But think about it. Could you imagine a world without smells? Would we love flowers as much as we do now if we weren’t able to smell their perfume? Would food be as tasty if it had no smell? Of course, these are purely rhetorical questions, but they can help us realize that the sense of smell is more important then we would have thought.
It has been proved that perfume has the power to influence our moods. Certain smells can make us feel calm and relaxed, while others can increase our excitement. From the oldest times, mankind has tried to master and use the subtle art of scents. The first perfume was, of course, made from natural ingredients such as herbs and spices. The Egyptians, Persians and Romans used perfumes in special ceremonies. Perfume was also a proof of rank in those times, as only the rich and powerful could afford to make their bodies smell better. It was a Persian chemist who discovered the secret of extracting oils from flower by distillation. People were now able to “borrow” the smell of roses, white lily, lilacs and other exquisite fragrances.
In these modern times, the perfume industry has highly developed, so that we are now surrounded by hundreds of perfumes. With such a varied offer, it’s sometimes hard to find the right fragrance for you. When buying a discount perfume, you should choose the one that suits your personality. Every fragrance has its own identity; it talks about emotions or feelings, creating images into our mind. “Obsession”, “Beautiful”, “Angel”, “Escape” are just a few of the names that incite our imagination. Whether you fancy floral, oriental, woody or fresh fragrances, you will surely find a discount perfume that reflects your individuality.
As our moods change, it is possible that a fragrance which was satisfying yesterday may not be what we need today. Instead of buying an expensive perfume, choose a few different kinds of discount perfume that you can shift between, according to your wish. You might feel sensitive and girly one day and choose a sweet fragrance that matches that disposition. However, the next day you may happen to feel sexy and sophisticated and choose a sensual, provocative scent.
The way we smell influences the impression we make to the others at least as much as the way we look. Therefore, don’t hesitate to invest in a quality discount perfume. In the past, people believed in the magic of perfumes and thought they were invented by gods. Today, although we don’t believe in magic anymore, we still admire the work of perfumers. They are the artists of our society, together with the painters, musicians and writers. As anyone who loves perfumes knows, a good perfume is a true work of art.
