Mobile Phone Deals Getting The Right One
Article Summary: Getting the wrong mobile phone or contract can give a year of misery. Make sure you spend a little time researching what is available first and what the real offers are, to get the right mobile phone deal for you.
There is no doubt that the Internet and retail stores are awash with thousands of mobile phone deals, from flip phones, to clam phones, to cameras to a certain amount of minutes free, to free months rental to even free games consoles when you buy that contract phone.
Gone are the days when you just chose the phone you liked, you know have to decipherer the contract that goes with it also.
So here are some tips.
Decide first what is more important to you, the mobile phone or the details of the contract. For example, do you use a lot of texts or use a lot of minutes? Do you talk to other mobile phones users or mainly fixed line numbers? When do you use your mobile phone, is during working hours or mainly at off peak times. All this criteria will help you decide what type of contract you are after, to suit your lifestyle.
If a particular mobile phone is what you are after as your main priority, then you will be held by what contracts are available at that time, for that phone. A lot will depend on how modern or “new” that phone is. Many new releases do not offer great deals, relying on the customer who wants that new phone. However as the months move on and newer models come out, chances are you will get a better deal. You can on most websites, do a search for that phone and it will often give the options for that phone only.
If you are more interested in staying touch with the right contract, chances are you will get a far greater spectrum of choice of phones and here is where the best deals can be had, especially if you are happy with a phone that has been around for 6 month or more.
In fact it is now not uncommon to get 12 months free rental on a 12 months contract, by redemption. This means you pay your monthly subscription, but at certain times claim this back, so that at the end of the 12 months you can cancel and your contract has been free with free minutes included.
Mobile phone companies still make money from this as many people forget or do not claim back their rental payments at the correct time or in the correct way. Also many keep the phone after the 12 months and continue paying for the contract.
There are many deals now where you receive a games console or “satellite navigation” system free with your contract mobile phone. My advice is this, calculate how much rental you will pay over the period of the contract, and then compare it with another contract with the same phone where they give free rental months instead. In most cases I have found it a better option to take the free months option and then buy the games console separately from a major retailer. So make sure you do your sums before buying.
My final comment is bout buying online or at a retail shop. Only in a very few cases have I found it cheaper in a shop than buying online. If you are unsure about whether you will like the phone or not, why not pop into one of these shops and have a look first and then buy online. OK it’s a bit cheeky, but it is your money.
