Miscarriage

Miscarriage is nothing actually it is a loss of a pregnancy without obvious cause before the 20th week. Most of the miscarriages are actually occurring during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. It is a common problem. About 15 percent of all known pregnancies end in miscarriage. About half of all conceptions are also believed to be lost, normally before the mother is aware she is pregnant. Many women may start to bleed and have pain. This bleeding can vary from being dark brown to being bright red and the pains can be cramping in the lower abdomen or in the back.

Sometimes women experience pains in the tops of the shoulders. Some women experience very little or no pain at all. 50 percent of fertilized eggs are lost before a woman finds out she's pregnant, because they happen so early that she goes on to get her period about on time. If you lose a baby after 20 weeks of pregnancy, it's called a stillbirth.
If you have had a miscarriage and want to try again, work with your doctor to learn the reason for the loss and to plan future pregnancies. Closely monitored pregnancies are especially important for women who have miscarried.

Causes of Miscarriage

The reason for miscarriage is varied from person to person, and most often the cause cannot be identified. During the first trimester, the most common cause of miscarriage is chromosomal abnormality it meaning that something is not correct with the baby's chromosomes. The most common cause of miscarriage is from foetal death due to abnormalities. Other causes include infection, hormone factors, immune problems and disease in the mother. However, most miscarriages occur when a pregnancy is not developing normally. Usually, there is nothing a woman or her provider can do to prevent it.
Nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy, even if it's severe, won't cause a miscarriage. And a fall or other injury is unlikely to cause a miscarriage, unless the injury is serious enough to threaten your own life.
Alcohol, smoking and some medications may increase the risk of miscarriage also. Drugs to treat malaria, acne and cancer have been linked to a higher rate of miscarriage. Other problems such as diabetes and thyroid disorders are also linked to miscarriage.
