Maximise Your Website's Real Estate With Either A Flash Scroller Or Flash Text Scroller
Article Summary: Inserting a Flash scroller or Flash text scroller on your web page will decrease the clutter, allow visitors to see your content more easily, provide a smooth and clear method of scrolling content, and ensure that search engines can still see all of your content.
If you are wondering how a Flash Scroller or a Flash Text Scroller can help you, just consider that the space on a website is notoriously limited, and with so very few visitors never even bothering to scroll a page down to see extra content, this presents a huge challenge to web designers. At the same time, it's important to make sure that there is plenty of content for visitors to become interested by and also that the content is not so crowded that it looks cluttered and untidy. The solution could well be to include a Flash scroller or a Flash text scroller as either of these will help to increase the real estate of your website, whilst not increasing the clutter a single but.
You may well have come across text scrollers or scrolled frames on a web page, and perhaps even considered using them yourself. However, using scrolling frames or embedded frames can cause no end of trouble, and even the best scrollers tend to share the same problem. The first problem with using scrolling frames is of course setting them up. If you've already got a web page and you want to convert it to frames, then you'll be best advised to simply scarp the whole thing and start again, because it can be an absolute nightmare trying to fiddle about with the frame widths, and juggling content from one frame to another. Not only that, but changing all your hyperlinks and menu links to direct visitors from one frame to another, or even changing the content of one frame from another can challenge even the most brave designers.
There is a second problem as far as using frames to create scrolling content is concerned. Very often search engines will not see your frames page, or rather, it will see the main frame with the references to the various frames within it, but the content of those frames will be invisible. This means that all your hard work creating search engine optimized content is wasted, as Google will see nothing but an empty page in many cases.
This problem is not the case with either a Flash scroller or a Flash text scroller if you're just using text content. Because you're using Flash, it is simply inserted onto your web page as easily as an image. You can resize it, change the shape, and usually alter all sorts of other aspects such as colour, scroll speed and even whether it scrolls horizontally or vertically. All you then have to do is to tell the text scroller where the text file is, and it will automatically load it up, display it, and allow the text to be scrolled by the visitor very smoothly and easily.
If instead you're looking to include images, Flash movies and hyperlinks, then a Flash scroller will allow you to simply drag and drop a Flash movie on to it, and immediately display it as scrolling content. It really couldn't be much easier.
If you have come across a scrolling feature other than a Flash scroller, or you've seen a section of text that scrolls, but again, isn't a Flash text scroller, then you'll notice one other problem, and that is the smoothness of the scroll, and the sharpness of the text. Usually one of two things happens: either the text jumps up and down a full line as you scroll it, or the whole content of the scrolling sections becomes blurred and almost unreadable whilst it is moving. Using Flash, this is not the case, especially if you use Flash compatible pixel fonts. This is because the scroller actually moves the text or images up and down a full pixel at a time. This ensure crystal clear text and images moving smoothly and clearly, without any jumpiness or distortion.
Because inserting a Flash based scroller or text scroller in your web page is so quick and easy, it means that converting a cluttered web page into one which is smaller, neater and yet still includes all of the same content is extremely easy. It also means you won't even have to change the layout much, unless you want to be able to make use of the extra space and create a neater and less cluttered appearance. Visitors are far more likely to scroll text within a box than they are the whole web page, so you won’t be losing visitors.
The other advantage of using either a Flash scroller or Flash text scroller rather than any other method of breaking down large sections of text or content is that the search engines will still be able to see your content. It used to be the case that Flash files were invisible to search engines like Google, but that is no longer the case. So as well as providing easy to implement, smooth and clear scrolling content, you'll be safe in the knowledge that the search engines will easily find your content too.
