Most of you must have been over with your festival holidays and as usual the scale is no longer your friend. Maybe you just gained some weight from all those delicious treats and fattening meals you have been eating or maybe you gained a lot. No matter, we would not like to keep all that excess fat on our body. We desperately need to start burning fat and not starve ourselves doing it.
Is that possible? Is a person really able to loose weight without going on a starvation diet?
Yes it is possible. You aren't going to see an instant change of weight on your scale, but you will after you adapt your lifestyle a bit to help the body burn more fat. My choice of eatables on the dining table leave me quite satiated.
My husband gave me a suggestion that I just try cutting out bread and potatoes. My first reaction was: no mashed potatoes, no deluxe baked potatoes, no fries? Can I really live without them? Without bread, how will I sop up my gravy and sauces off my plate? I decided that I should try it at least once even though I felt as if i was depriving myself. I had a bad attitude to start. Watching my husband scoop those mashed potatoes out of the bowl and onto his plate. Then grabbing up the loaf of bread and slapping butter on a couple of slices. I really wished that he followed the same lifestyle that I was following. He's over weight too, but maybe he wanted to experiment the new diet chart on me first.
I replaced the mashed potatoes with cottage cheese on my plate. Some diets advocate against eating cottage cheese, but I had to eat something. Then I would eat the meat product. I am not a big fan of meat either so that was a problem. Vegetables I love and can eat lots of them. We started eating two types of vegetables with our meals. A lot of them had cheese on them which makes them a bit more fattening but it didn't seem to matter. I finished off my meal with applesauce as a dessert. So I still had 4 to 5 different things on my plate. It was full and so was I when I finished eating.
When I initially started my weight loss campaign, I stopped making pasta for some time. Our chili spaghetti was replaced by just a bowl of chili with cheese on it. Macaroni and cheese became a taboo at home. So my husband too was getting less carbohydrates to eat. I wasn't making them.
Don't think I actually never did eat any of the stuff I cut out of my meals. We eat out on weekends, I eat what I want. I consider weekends to be a sort of time off from the strict regimen of dieting, I follow throughout the week. That way if there is something during the week I really crave, I know I can eat it on the weekend. That helps me get through the week a lot of times. Then on the weekends, I sometimes don't even care anymore.
Did I manage to loose weight? Yes I did. At first I lost a pound per day. It really surprised me. Seeing my weight drop so dramatically really motivated me to keep going. I was burning fat without really trying all that hard.
It did slow down after I lost the first 10 pounds. Things didn't seem to work as fast, but the weight was still going down. If I would have added some walking to my daily routine, could have helped to burn off the excessive fat a lot easier. I may do that this time. I'll let you all know if it works any better.
To burn fat and loose the weight, you need to find the best method for yourself. The write up I have written is just an idea to shake you out of slumber, but there may be many other ways too.
I need to get back on mine. I am giving myself to the end of the holidays and then it starts. The good thing is, I don't really hate the fact I am going to diet. I love the idea I can get back to watching the foods I eat, my jeans will be fitter, the scale is going to be my friend again and I am going to feel good about myself.
Oh, my husband has changed some of the things he does. As he saw I was loosing weight, he didn't give up his mashed potatoes, but he did give up his butter bread. It's a start.
