Is Continuous Learning Part of Your Life?
Article Summary: How do you keep yourself moving ahead vibrantly into success? Through Continuous Learning.
There has never been a time in my life when I was not a strong proponent of the concept of continuous learning, nor was there ever a time when it was not very high on my list.
Learning and experiencing new modes of thinking and interpreting this world in and around us are simply frosting on the cake. We all know about frosting - not only is it lovely to look at and yummy to taste, it adds a new dimension to the prospect of eating the cake. It adds fun!
Brian Tracy discusses continuous learning in his "Great Little Book on the Gift of Self-Confidence." Here are some of his theories:
o You are your most valuable asset. Take all the training you can get to increase your value.
o A feeling of continuous growth is a wonderful source of motivation and self- confidence.
o Invest three percent of your income back into yourself in the form of continuous learning.
o High levels of competence and mastery in your field will give you a feeling of unshakable self-confidence.
Before I became a Master Certified Coach, I had arisen to the top of my game in both Sales and Marketing for my former Real Estate career. I continued to learn new things.
My co-workers puzzled over my investment in both time and money for the seminars I signed up for, the advanced courses I took, and the books and tape sets I continued to purchase. And why did I think I needed to hire a personal coach, for heavens sake. "You have already arrived, Ann. What more in your career do you want to achieve? Where do you want to go?Through continuous learning, I opened up uncharted avenues of thinking for myself, I discovered novel ways of expressing who I am, and I charted new ways to experience my life. It made (and continues to make) my world so much larger! Huge experiences and huge results were not only imaginable, they were (and are still) immanently possible.
For your own continuous learning, you could expand your world this week and implement just one area for improvement? You could dust off that old set of motivational tapes and actually listen to them; you could spend some time with an espresso at your local bookstore or library; you could check out that winter catalog of courses being offered in your area or you could get on the computer and spend some time with Amazon.
See what there is to discover about you and your ever-expanding world! Most of all, you could enjoy the process and the new you that may be in the making!!
