Nearly 10 percent to 20 percent of the world population is affected by this chronic, recidivating, and very itchy rash at some point during childhood. For some, the disease will amend with time.

Eczema, or dermatitis as it is sometimes called, is a group of skin conditions which can affect all age groups. The severity of the disease can vary. Our goal is to share our home remedy for eczema treatment with you. In mild forms the skin is dry, hot and itchy, while in more severe forms the skin can become broken, raw and bleeding. Eczema is not contagious. With our home remedy for eczema treatment the inflammation of eczema can be reduced, though the skin will always be sensitive to flare-ups and need extra care. The disease can occur at any age but is most common in infants to young adults, and about 50 % of eczema sufferers are affected throughout life

Moist, supple skin is less likely to itch. It’s always surprising how many eczema sufferers don’t know this, or worse yet do know it but don’t do anything about it. A simple moisturising regime can be a great Eczema home treatment. It’s recommended that you use a good quality moisturiser at least twice a day (morning and night). It’s also worth noting that perfuming agents can sometimes be irritating to skin, so if you can find an unperfumed moisturiser you may be better off.

Diet never causes eczema. Food only causes allergy, it does not cause eczema. It is the genes of a person that cause eczema. If you are allergic or sensitive to certain foods then try avoiding them, because they can trigger eczema. Dairy products, eggs, nuts, preservatives and citrus fruits are more likely to trigger eczema.

Seborrhoeic eczema is common in babies under one, although adults can get it too. The rash is greasy and it usually starts on the scalp (this is sometimes called cradle cap in babies) and can then spread to other areas. It usually clears up in babies by the time they are one but can go on for a number of years in adults.

Coconut oil may be applied to the portions with eczema. It will help the skin to stay soft. Walking or jogging should be resorted to in order to activate the bowels. Sunbathing is also beneficial as it kills the harmful bacteria and should be resorted to early in the morning, in the first light of dawn. A light mudpack applied over the sites of the eczema is also helpful. The pack should be applied for an hour at a time and should be repeated twice or thrice a day.

Rub nutmeg against a smooth stone with a few drops of water. Make a smooth paste. Apply.
