Does Television Influence Sex
Article Summary: A television is a great source of information and entertainment for majority of people in the world today. It has invaded every household down even to the bedroom.
A television is a great source of information and entertainment for majority of people in the world today. It has invaded every household down even to the bedroom. Many people especially men are obsessed about a fine piece of the latest TV sets. A retailer of electronics in the UK released a survey which was quiet baffling to say the least. A free plasma TV, 50-inch would happily be traded by close to half of British men in exchange for giving up sex for six months. This is a strong indicator that TVs are more desirable than sex. It shows the extent in which television influences sex today. Half of the male British population is a staggering number to say they would be more than willing to banish sex from their lives just to get the TV.
The TV has found its way into the bedroom causing devastating negative effects in a couples sex life. The introduction of a TV in the bedroom cuts sexual intercourse by half. All attention is focused on the screen instead of having a quite sumptuous time for sex. The bedroom environment should have all the trappings of a safe haven. An enclave of piece in which a couple can escape to after having a hard day with their jobs. It should be a bit dark and sexually alluring if not romantic. After all it is the main theatre where sex is played. All this is violated the moment a TV is introduced. All attention is now focussed on it. Couples hardly place any priority on each other. A perfect situation where TVs are more desirable than sex.
Too much TV is driving a terrible wedge between married and dating couples alike. In the United States, the reigning TV watching champions in the whole world, People hardly lift their eyes from their TV screens. Relationships have turned lukewarm with the TV taking center stage. TV dampens our sex lives as it hogged all the limelight from our relationships. The good or bad thing about a TV is that it also brings the things that are lacking in our relationships to our doorstep. It is only in the TV where a perfect man meets a perfect woman at the right place and at the right time. Date, fall in love, and live happily ever after. Isn't that what all of us crave for? A fairly tale-like love life. No wonder TVs are more desirable than sex.
It is true TVs are more desirable than sex, but this is case of misplaced priorities. There is a very strong link between sexless marriages and technology that is always omnipresent. There is a lot of multi-tasking going on in our relationships. Our attention and sense of focus is too divided to pay close attention to something as committing as a relationship. It is getting on our way of really focusing on a fellow human being. There is no time to quitely have good and fulfilling sex with our partners. We do not place the required importance on sensuous activities and neither do we appreciate sexuality in our marriages the way it ought to be appreciated.
