Have you grown tired with the same travel destination? Would you like to try something different for a change? In the latest years, Bulgaria has become a favorite travel destination for many people, having attracted 5 million visitors in 2006 and 4 million visitors in 2007, until now. The beautiful town of Byala is situated in Northeastern Bulgaria, 50 km south of Varna, close to the Black Sea coast.
This town has an interesting history, as the first settlement here was a Greek fortress named Aspros (White), situated in the south area of the town (in the 6th century BC). Later, the Romans built the Temple of Jupiter in the neighborhood. The region was part of the first Bulgarian Empire in 681. Throughout the Ottoman period, the border between the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia passed through this town.
The population of Byala was mainly Greek until the early 1900s. Today, most of the population (about 75%) includes ethnic Bulgarians. With such a captivating history and its wonderful landscapes, the city of Byala is really worth visiting. The natural attractions of the town include Karadere, one of the last wild beaches in Bulgaria, with its pristine dunes, and the White Cliffs.
It is no wonder that many people visit this region and the properties in Byala are in great demand. There are many small pubs and restaurants for tourists; accommodation includes private hotels at low prices and a camping called Kristina situated in the neighborhood. If you decide to spend your holiday here, you must not worry about growing bored with the region.
You can choose from a variety of entertaining activities. If you display a preference for history, you can visit the ancient fortress located around St Atanas Monastery. If you want to have fun and go shopping, take a quick ride to Obzor (only 5 km away) or Varna (there are regular bus lines and private taxis). If you have a taste for fine wines, you must know that the exquisite Dimyat vintage wine is produced here. If you prefer mountains, you should go to Dospat – a town situated in the very south of Bulgaria, close to the border with Greece, in the Rhodope Mountains. This town is also very old, probably founded by Despot Alexius Slav in the 12th-13th century. You can find here the highest dam in Bulgaria, Dospat Dam, fed by the Samitsa River.
The population consists of Muslim Bulgarians. If you would like to visit this town or even settle here, you can choose from many beautiful properties in Dospat. It is a perfect place for the lovers of nature, as there are splendid breathtaking mountainous landscapes here, perhaps the most beautiful in Bulgaria. The climate is very pleasant, due to the influence of the Aegean along the Dospat River, with cool summers, warm autumns and mild winters. Properties in Dospat are undoubtedly an opportunity of advantageous investment.
Bulgaria is a wonderful country, with a very diverse landscape, from the Balkan Mountains covered with snow to the sunny Black Sea coast.
