What Causes Diabetes

Now the main cause of diabetes is currently obesity and with 30% of the USA clinically obese it is no wonder that 24 million people suffer from diabetes in the USA alone. As you can see diabetes is a growing illness and with more and more people being diagnosed with diabetes it is important that you know what the main causes of diabetes are.

The leading cause of diabetes, however, is being overweight. When you are overweight, your body becomes more resistant to insulin. This is particularly true if your BMI, or Body Mass Index, is greater than 30%. If you don't know your BMI, measure your waist. If you are female and your waist is bigger than 35 inches, or if you are male and your waist is bigger than 40 inches, you are at risk of developing diabetes.

Symptoms of diabetes

Frequency of urinating is more than usual and you are always very thirsty and hungry.

Tiredness is obvious and the person tends to lose weight very easily without much effort.

Blurred vision is another symptom of diabetes. This is because fluid is being drawn out from the eye tissues and lenses.

The common warning signs and symptoms include the following; increased frequent urination, excessive thirst,increased unexplainable weight loss,tiredness and fatigue, numbness in limbs,vision blurring or loss, dry skin,increased susceptibility to infection,and bruises taking longer to heal.

Diabetes Treatment

Research shows that fatty acids are beneficial in improving cardiovascular complications related to diabetes. GLA or gamma linolenic acid is a fatty acid which is found to normalize and reduce the metabolism of faulty fatty acid that can aggravate the complication of diabetes.

This is the process of using water to treat diabetes. The ability of water to conduct and absorb heat can have useful effects to the human body. Among the benefits are reduction of blood sugar level, improved sleep and improve the well being and moral of diabetic.

At present, the only known and proven surgical treatment for diabetes is to have a pancreatic transplant. This is a procedure that is applicable only to diabetics who are already dependent on insulin and are still suffering from complications. The life of a diabetic is greatly improved with this surgical treatment.
