The most vital aspect of a trade show display is the graphics. Your display needs to have distinct, eye-catching graphic designs if you hope to compete with the hundreds of other vendors vying for the attention of the same customers. This is not a straightforward task. However, you will be able to make attractive graphic designs that will draw the most desirable customers to your trade show displays by following a few easy rules.

Making sure that the design itself explains your product or service is the first rule in graphic design for trade shows. Going with a design that is centered on technology will inform trade show customers about your exhibit if your product or service deals with electronics. Your booth's design is extremely important because most trade show customers will not read the text; they will only decide to visit your display if they like the design. You will find your results do not meet your expectations if you do not utilize visuals, which are of vital importance in trade show displays.

You should not try to explain every aspect of your product or service through text. A lot of trade show vendors will explain their product or service in long paragraphs, which is a mistake. The content might be interesting and convince the customers to buy the item, but only if they actually read it. The problem is that most people that go to trade shows won't read the whole paragraph. This is the reason why you need to explain your service or product through visual aids and graphics.

Keeping in mind that it is not your display booth's duty to "sell" the product or service to potential customers is the second rule you must obey. It is the sales team’s job to do that, and relying on your display to do their job for them will not result in many customers. Your display's job is simply to draw the attention of the customers; leave it to your trade show team to further explain the details of your product to them. Keep the relevancy of your product in mind when designing the graphics for your trade show display. Try informing customers about your product subconsciously if you're not able to actually show the product.

It is of the utmost importance not to overwhelm your graphics with text. Your graphics are not design to inform customers totally about every detail of your creation, as previously stated. If you want words to go along with the pictures, you should just use the name of the product and a few bullet points of information about the product. These bullet points should be five to ten words long at most and be as straightforward as possible. Mention the best points of your product. This is not the place to go into detail.

Your graphic design should be vibrant and bold with colors that do not contrast too much. Stray from having too many details. The purpose is to attract people to your booth, so make use of vibrant, bold colors that won’t be distracting.
