A major cause of this disease is prostate abnormalities where there is a lot of unpredictability and difficulty when passing urine. It is a male urinary incontinence caused by prostate problems. Male incontinence can also be attributed to the side effects of a surgical operation where the prostate is surgically removed through a total prostatectomy. It is estimated that more than five million men in the United States alone suffer from male incontinence.
The disease can also be as a result of spinal cord injury or head injury. Injury to such crucial areas destroys motor cells which transmit and relay information to the brain. The brain takes the appropriate action and measures on receiving such information. This is through either a reflex action or by releasing a hormone to indirectly influence an action in the body. Damage to the spinal cord or the head as a result of a trauma or worse still, a disease can easily make a person to lose bladder control. All the messages being transmitted between the bladder and the brain are either interrupted or lost all together. The result of this communication break down is usually disastrous. Bladder control is lost. Urine can leak any time or all the time, a condition referred to as male incontinence.
Neurological diseases are a major contributor and actual cause of urinary male incontinence. Neurological diseases which are both benign and cancerous combined with other degenerative ailments and diseases result in devastating effects on the body functions and mechanisms. Terminal ailments like Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis are some of the major culprits that cause and contribute to male incontinence. All these are abnormalities that interfere with the smooth transition of information from the body to the brain and back. When the neurons are also infected and disabled, information transmission comes to a complete standstill. It is like an engine with some parts failing to function.
The way we think and function can be affected as we grow older and organic brain damage occurs. Male incontinence is as well caused by aging. In time this creates confusion in information transmission as brain cells degenerate and die off. This results in incontinence within a certain span of time. As normal life continues there is the unnoticeable tear and wear which takes its toll with time. Body parts become worn out and prone to infections like the urinary tract infection. Accumulation of toxins affects the functioning of the human body and affects a persons ability to control and pass urine. Too much consumption of alcohol is a common cause of male incontinence whether permanent or temporary.
