Can I clean a coffee maker with other things?

If you have used a coffee maker, you would know to clean a coffee maker with vinegar. If you have not heard about it, then it would only meant that your coffee brewer need some cleaning to brew good quality coffee again.

Before we move on to the other types of solutions you can used for cleaning coffee maker, the process is very simple. With the mixture you have, simply poured it into the brewer, the same as you would when brewing coffee.

In the same manner, would means that you would install the filter, the carafe and so on. After pouring in the solution, all you need do to is to switch on the coffee brewer and let the thing runs as per normal.

After this brewing process, take out the filter piece and discard it, then let the mixture sit there for another 15 to 20 minutes. After that, pour away the mixture.

Repeat this whole process with plain water at least twice to wash away the mixture and any debris. And you would have a clean coffee maker.

So, what can you used to wash your coffee maker? If you are someone that have not washed your brewer for a long period of time, then you might consider using straight bleach for your carafe.

This would definitely remove any hardened coffee bake. Another solution that can remove these stubborn debris is denture tablets. Mix 2 denture tablets into a carafe of water, run it through your coffee maker and you would be amazed with the result!

If you find these agents distasteful, then a more food based one might appeal to you such as citric acid. And it is no less effective, all it takes is 1 oz of citric acid and you would be able remove any stubborn stains.

Use 1 oz of citric acid with 4 cups of hot water then dilute it with 4 cups of cold water. Another food based cleaning solution would be the baking soda, which I am sure many of you would have heard of and even use it before.

The usage is 1 part of baking soda for 4 parts of warm water for most effective result.

Nowadays, it is also very common for folks to be using what coffee maker companies has come out with, their own coffee maker cleaners. The usage is spelled in the instruction manual.

That is my take on the few things that can be used to clean coffee makers, I am sure there are many more out there, so long as it does not contains dangerous ingredients, you can probably give it a try. Usually the agents that are recommended for use on kitchen wares are safe enough to use on coffee makers...
