Despite the present controversy the NBA is going through regarding the legal disputes with the Seattle Washington and the possibility of corruption within the court; next Monday we will learn who will be the players attending the Olympic games in Beijing next August.

It is not a secret the NBA has been questioned due to the poor team performance showed during the season especially that of the leading teams; a fact that brings many doubts regarding the Olympic team participation in the coming International tournament in China

A press conference will be held next Monday in order to provide the names of the players enlisted to participate. The basketball organization chief Jerry Colangelo has revealed that amongst those names we will hear that of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dwight Howard.

Los Angeles Lakers key players Kobe Bryant has postponed his possible surgery, as he desires to participate in the tournament and be part of Beijing 2008.

Mike Krzyzewski, national team coach, recognized that to complete the list of 12 players had been one of the most difficult decisions in the history of the team as there were more than 30 players that could form part of it.

Krzyzewski, who is also the responsible for the basketball program of Duke University, with the Blue Devils team, did state there are some players who have been part of the national team who will not participate in the Olympic games.

The US team last victory was that of the Fiba of the Americas Pre Olympic tournament against Argentina, which provided their direct pass to the Olympic games. Back in 2004 in the Athens Games the US basketball team obtained the bronze medal.

It will be a tough road for the US team as they will have to play rivals such: Argentina, Spain and Russia that currently holds the European title. Currently there are some South American and European players who are part of the NBA roster as it is the case of the Argentineans: Manu Ginóbili, Fabricio Oberto, both with the San Antonio Spurs; Luis Scola who plays for the Houston Rockets, and Andrés Nocioni who plays with the Chicago Bulls. While Pau Gasol, Lakers player, José Manuel Cauldron, Toronto Raptors, and his former teammate Jorge Garbajosa will be playing for Spain.

It is almost certain the US team will call in players such: Bryant, current (MVP) of the regular season, James, Cleveland Cavaliers key star and Howard, the indisputable leader of the Orlando Magic. Others like Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets; Jason Kidd, of Dallas Mavericks; Deron Williams, of the Utah Jazz and Amare Estoudemire, of the Phoenix Suns could be named in the Olympic roster.

Amongst the preparation plans of the US Olympic team will be to start training next June 28 in Las Vegas; while in July there will be a mandatory gathering of approximately one week in order to draw the strategies for the friendly game against Canada previous to the trip to Beijing.
