Go ahead, admit it; you get tempted as well. When I’m shopping and see a bag of gold coins, I grab it! The golden color, the delicious chocolate, and the association with monetary value make these candies extremely appealing. It’s not just me either; people were taken in by these chocolate coins many years before the Pirates of the Caribbean movies came to the big screen.

Chocolate coins are discs of chocolate shaped into coins and wrapped in gold foil and stamped with an icon to look like a coin. Having chocolate coins embossed with personalized messages is the latest trend in chocolate coins. They are fantastic as wedding favors, engagement or baby announcements, and more.

Tradition is that gold coins made of chocolate fill the leprechaun's pots every March during Patrick's Day celebrations. Follow a rainbow to its end and find a leprechaun's most precious possession, his pot of gold, legend tells. Catching a leprechaun means that he must lead you to his treasure and, if he loses his gold, he loses his magic and begins to take on human characteristics.

"Talk Like a Pirate Day" is September 19th, and Pirate themed parties are very popular on this date, particularly for the birthday parties of little boys. Besides the delicious gold coins, there are many other Pirate Candies to choose from. Lollipops that are shaped like their name, Crazy Bones Skeletons and Pirate Skull Heads, are popular. The flavor of Sweet Tarts comes to the living in Bone Head Skull candy. The many colors make the scary skull shape scream out with fun!

M&Ms makes three bags of Pirate-themed candies: Captain's Gold Peanut M&M's, Jack's Gems Milk Chocolate M&M's, and Pirate Pearls White Chocolate M&M's. Hershey's Nuggets are wrapped in gold and silver foil and look like tiny treasure chests. The Nuggets are priced to sell, and they can extend your budget when mixed with the gold coins. A Pirate Candy Treasure Chest contains a small toy, a treasure map, and some delicious candy. It can be an exciting addition to your list of treasure items. These little treasure boxes make such a wonderful party favor! Add some pastel Candy Necklaces or Ring Pops; they will delight the feminine partygoers! Whatever her age, you can never lose by offering a woman some "bling."

Regardless of the event, whether for a Pirate Party or a wedding, chocolate gold coins will make it dressier without costing you too many of your own coins.
