A Man For All Seasons is set in the 16th century. It is based on the real life story of Sir Thomas More, who was the Chancellor of England in those days. The story revolves around More’s struggle with his conscience and his friendship with King Henry the VII. The King is contemplating divorcing his aging wife who is unable to produce an heir and marry someone else. For doing this, the King decides to leave the Catholic Church. More is now torn between supporting the king and denouncing him, a critical decision which could even lead him to the executioner’s block. Many elements of religion, power and politics are interwoven in this intriguing tale of morality and standing up for one’s beliefs. The experienced cast and stimulating story of standing up for one’s principles make this a not to be missed production.
